In 2019, Amir Khan bought a home in Cherry Creek — his first house in Denver after years of renting in LoDo. The inspector flagged the roof as aging. Amir did what most homeowners do: searched Google, called a few roofers, picked the one with the most confident sales pitch and a price that felt fair.
The roof lasted five years. Cracks along two ridgelines, failed flashing around the chimney, water staining on the master bedroom ceiling. The contractor was unreachable. No warranty honored. A second roofer told Amir the original work had used undersized fasteners and the wrong underlayment weight for Colorado's freeze-thaw cycles — corners cut that no homeowner would ever know to look for.

Amir started asking neighbors in Cherry Creek and Washington Park. The stories were remarkably similar — post-storm replacements done fast by crews that showed up, cashed out, and disappeared. Warranties that existed only on paper. Material downgrades the homeowner never knew about.
As someone who backs companies that solve real problems, Amir saw the gap clearly: homeowners had no reliable way to vet local roofers before signing a contract. The reviews on Google and Yelp were gamed. The licensing database existed but nobody knew how to use it. Storm chasers from Texas and Oklahoma flooded Denver after every hail event, pulled permits, did the work, and left.
